Sharla Kae Evans-Ekinia
Sharla Kae Evans-Ekinia, 58, of Orange, passed away on June 16, 2017, in Orange.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, June 19, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Rich. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Houston, Texas, on August 21, 1958, she was the daughter of John A. Hollifield and Aletha Charlene Hunter Hollifield. Sharla was an administrative technician for the State of Texas for 18 years and worked in adult and child protective services. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother and attended every sporting event and recital she could. She was always involved in church activities, such as children’s church, and would help out anywhere she was needed. She was very creative and giving and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Evans, Jr.; and mother, Charlene Hollifield.
She is survived by her husband, Phil Ekinia; daughters, Amy Vega and husband, Darren of Mobile, AL, and Mandie Welch and husband, Jason, of Orange, TX; father, John A. Hollifield of Livingston, TX; brothers, John L. Hollifield, and Stephen Hollifield, all of Conroe, TX; and grandchildren, Jeffrey, Curry, and Riley Barker, and Dorian Vega, all of Mobile, AL, and Kylie and Kaiden Welch, of Orange, TX.
