Sharon Lee Belcher, 73, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 30, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 5, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, TX. Officiating will be Bro. Terry Wright from First Baptist Church in Vidor. A burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Cemetery in Orange, Tx. Fellowship with friends and family will be held at First Baptist Church in Vidor Tx from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the gym behind the church.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM, Monday June 5, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Tx.
Sharon Lee Young-Belcher was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on October 1, 1949. She was the daughter of Wilbert and Wilda Boudreaux-Young and the second child of a family of eight. She attended St Joseph Catholic School until she was ten years old and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1967. After High School, Sharon married Robert Belcher and they raised their family in Bridge City, Texas. She worked at Bridge City Bank for over ten years and retired after 26 years from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Sharon had the most loving spirit, heart and soul. Her love for Jesus, her husband and daughter were immeasurable and bountiful. Her love for her family was fierce, genuine and unconditional. She had a very special bond with each of her siblings and the love they have for each other is astounding. She carried a beautiful smile and always wanted to hug and comfort you. She loved her coworkers and friends and loved to laugh with them or at herself. She loved to nurture the children at her work, especially babies. She said, “touching a baby a foot is good luck”. Her Christian influence will forever remain in the lives of all her knew her. Her God given gift was to love and she served Him well.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Wilbert and Wilda Young, and her niece/Godchild Rene Lynch and her brother-in-law Robert Lynch, all of Port Arthur Texas.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years Robert G Belcher, her daughter Rhonda and Son-in-law Chuck Wedekind from Buna, Tx, her stepdaughter Kelly O’Dell from Zavalla Tx, and her stepgrandchildren Tera and her husband Joe McMurrough of Jasper Tx, Heather and Stewart Moye of Jasper Tx and Tyler and his wife Kerri O’Dell. She is also survived by her sisters Susan Lynch of Port Arthur Tx, Tillie and her husband Gary Hunt of Ohio, sister Debbie and her husband Dale Fortune of Port Neches Tx, sister Elizabeth Duhon, brother Tass and his wife Susie Young, sister Maryann Jennings and her husband Bill Jennings, and brother Michael and his wife Robyn Young of Frisco, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins, great nephews and great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Paskell, Dallas Paskell, Allen Duhon, Wesley Young, Tyler O’Dell, Jason Fortune, Caden Young, Matthew Young and Mike Young Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Zane Lemoine, CJ Swanzy, Crosby Fortune, Mike Young Sr and Tass Young.
