Shirley Mae Brister
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Mae Brister, on September 25, 2026. While we deeply mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior, glorifying God and enjoying Him forever.
Shirley was born on May 20, 1939, to William and Susie (Moore) Perry, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dempsey Brister Sr.; her brothers, George Perry, L.J. Perry and William Perry; and her sisters, Opal Bartley, Mary Young and Doris Benson.
Shirley was a wonderful and devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was guided by her deep faith and love for God. She demonstrated her reliance on Him through her strong and faithful prayer life, turning to Him for strength, guidance, and comfort. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion touched the lives of all who knew her. Her loving presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her sons, Eddie Brister and his wife Kristina, Mike Brister and his wife Amy; her grandchildren, Colby Brister and his wife Amy, Montana Hardt, Meghan Baumgardner and her husband Chad, Brooke Sylestine and her husband Brendan; her great-granddaughter Jane Baumgardner; her brother Tommy Perry; her brother-in-law Paul Brister and her sister-in-law Mary Brister.
We are deeply grateful to all the staff at Holland Place Senior Living and to Dustin of Stonewood Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Mom during her final months.
The family and extended family will gather at 10 a.m. on October 7 for a private graveside service at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery to honor and remember their loved one.
