Shirley Ruth Campbell Ferguson
Shirley Ruth Campbell Ferguson, 81, of Orange, Texas, passed away on September 26, 2017, at her home.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Clarence Campbell.
Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Pineland, Texas, on May 6, 1936, Shirley was the daughter of Erie Campbell and Mary E. Strickland Campbell. She was saved when she was 13 years old. She was married on August 12, 1961, to Roy V. Ferguson for a short 7 years, before his untimely death in 1969. Shirley enjoyed helping others and worked as an LVN for 32 years. She loved talking on the phone and checking in with family and friends. Everyone knew her as a sweet lady and it’s like she never met a stranger. She adored her children, and especially her grandchildren. Shirley will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erie and Mary; husband, Roy V. Ferguson; brother, James R. Campbell; and her sister, Mary Ellen Campbell.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sherri White and husband Tim and Mark Ferguson and wife Pennie; grandchildren, Storrmi Ferguson, Dallas Ferguson, Rachel Fontenot, Joshua Fontenot and wife Megan, Timothy White, Jr. and wife Aimee, and Katherine Popp; and her great-grandchildren, Porshia White, Claire Stelly, Jude Popp, and Audrey Fontenot.
