Shirley Menard

May 15, 1939 — March 16, 2017

Shirley Menard, 77, of Orangefield, TX was promoted to Heaven on March 16th, 2017 at Altus Hospice Care Facility in Beaumont, TX after a short battle with cancer.

Born in 1939 in Midland, Louisiana, Shirley had 9 children with her husband Woody. After raising her children, Shirley became a successful small business owner in Vidor, TX as the owner/operator of Tiny Tots Nursery, which she ran until her many grandchildren took her time, attention, and limitless affection.

Affectionately known as “MawMaw Shirley”, she loved her family ferociously and leaves an indelible legacy as a lover of those less fortunate. Shirley always pulled for the underdog, and gave all she could spare to get them back on their feet. Her adventurous side took her around the world, and traveling was a passion. A fluent speaker of both Cajun French and English, she was also a world-class Cajun cook. Her vivacious and spunky spirit will be deeply missed along with her heartfelt, home-cooked meals.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph & Nola Landry, her brothers Douglas, Albert, and Oliver Landry, sister Lavinia Roach, her son Clint Menard and her daughter Angela Menard, and her great granddaughter Peyton Lackey.

She is survived by her husband, Woody Menard and 7 children including, Nola Hebert, Steven and June Menard, Guy and Donna Menard, Blaine and Chinh Menard, Karen and Scott Ficken, Ben Menard, and Dominic and Becky Menard.

Her grandchildren include: Sarah McElroy, Amanda (Josh) Bourgeois, Michael McElroy, Maggie Hebert, Marc Menard, James Menard, Justin (Nichole) Menard, Jenny (Chris) Daigle, Aaron Trahan, Amber (Tyler) Dupree, Mercedes Trahan, Jared Menard, Jessie Menard, Tien Tran, Alexa Menard, Devan (Colby) Hughes, Reagan Ficken, Kara Ficken, Samuel Menard, and Ruth Ann Menard.

Her great grandchildren include: Presley Lackey, Riley Billings, Emery Bourgeois, Skylar Menard, Kaydance Whitfield, Caleb Menard, Allie Traxler, Jacy, Halie, and Nora Daigle, Greyson, Major, and Jack Dupree, and Leif Hughes.

She is also survived by a very close and special cousin, Juanita Broussard, along with a very special daughter she gained through her continual service of those in need, Huong Tran.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marc Menard, Justin Menard, Michael McElroy, Josh Bourgeois, Reagan Ficken and Colby Hughes.
