Shirley D. Pierce, 90, of Orange, passed away on March 15, 2017, in Orange.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M., Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Mark Perkins of The West Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will precede the service, starting at 2:00 P.M.

Born in Palestine, Texas, on July 8, 1926, she was the daughter of Frederick A. “Fritz” Singletary and Martha (Dunnahoe) Singletary. Shirley was a buyer for Livingston Shipbuilding for 35 years and worked for The Cloeren Company for seven years. She was a member of The West Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Orange. In the early 1960s, she was the first woman to bowl a 600 series in Orange County. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Douglas Singletary, Hilda (Singletary) Hartwig, Stanley Singletary, and Nelson Singletary.

She is survived by nephew, Neil Hartwig, Jr. and wife, Gail; brother-in-law, Neil Hartwig, Sr.; and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
