Sudie Plagens

September 19, 1926 — December 9, 2008

Sudie Plagens, 82, died December 9, 2008, at her daughter's home in Mauriceville, after a battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Claybar Funeral Home Bridge City Funeral Chapel with Reverends David Green and Frank Hopson officiating.
Graveside service and interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Sycamore Cemetery in Burkeville.
Visitation will be Friday, December 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Coplin, Lennard Coplin, Marlon Coplin, Mark Redd, Tyson Plagens, John Yates and Kevin Kittrell.
Sudie was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Burkeville, Texas, to Thomas Jefferson and Elmira Brooks Coplin.
She lost the love of her life, Ernest R. Plagens, in 1998, after 53 years of marriage. "Ernie" courted Sudie in1945 at Ricks Café in Orange where she was a waitress.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Copeland and T.J. Coplin; sister, Pauline West; niece, Darlene Lavallette; nephews, James Hopson, Robert and Otha Neal Copeland.
Survivors include her brother, Leon Coplin; sister, Maggie Yates Morris; son, Robert Plagens of Bridge City; daughters, Deana Brown Al of Mauriceville, Sharon Kittrell Kenneth of Yorktown, Virginia.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Mark Redd Nancy, Veronica Redd, Jennifer Drane Philip, Kevin Kittrell Anne, Kimberley George Steve, and Tyson Plagens; great grandchildren, Michael and Brian Drane, Samuel, Benjamin and Emma Kittrell, Brooke, Leyton and Addison George, Crystal, Caitlin and Dylan Redd.
Sudie was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Bridge City for almost 50 years. She enjoyed going fishing with "Pop" at their Toledo Bend camp and cooking and caring for her family.
