Susan Lee Nimmo
Susan Lee Nimmo, 71, lost her longtime struggle with cancer on December 25, 2020, at her home in Bridge City with her loving husband by her side.
Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be her husband David Nimmo. The service will also be live online at

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She came into this world on January 5, 1949, as Susan Lee Hausman, in Texas City, Texas. Susan attended college at Stephen F. Austin and later transferred to Lamar University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary education. Soon after she married Mike Batson and they had 2 children, Amy and Karyn. Susan loved children and devoted 36 years of her life to teaching mostly first graders. She was an avid reader and loved mystery novels. Susan enjoyed country and western dancing as well as playing bridge and traveling. She adored her daughters and grandchildren most of all and left memories with them that will last a lifetime. Susan made an impact on many lives and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Hausman.
She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, David Nimmo; mother, Betty (Pratt) Miller; daughters, Amy Lowry and husband Greg and Karyn Batson all of Austin; sisters, Andrea Hazlitt and husband Lonnie of Lake Jackson and Betsy Vernor and husband John of Columbia Lakes; and grandchildren, Kade Bennett, London Lowry, and Lyric Lowry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heart to Heart Hospice in Beaumont or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions social distancing and masks will be enforced.
Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
