A celebration of the life of Sybil Lynelle Sherrell, 90, of Beaumont will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A lifelong resident of Beaumont, Mrs. Sherrell was born August 11, 1925 in Sour Lake to David A. and Madeline (McDonald) Warren and passed away December 15, 2015 at Brookdale Dowlen Oaks in Beaumont.
Sybil was a savvy business woman in her two passionate fields- antiques and fine jewelry where she met her many loyal clients that became lifelong friends. However, her true passion was for animal welfare. Her love of animals led her down a path of complete devotion to spay, neuter, and foster many cats and kittens, losing count at the 3000 mark.
Northwood Christian Church was home to her since the 70’s. She remained close to many of the members as well as her beloved Virgilio “DJ” Davis and Don Joseph.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Taryn and Henry Hebert of Beaumont; niece, Kay Daves and husband, Lamar of Beaumont; great-nieces and great-nephews; her faithful cat, Crissy; and her numerous grandcats and granddogs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph V. Sherrell; her parents and one sister.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to her special friends Cindy Bautista, Donna Stephenson, Jennifer Jett, her compassionate caregivers and the staff of Texas Home Health and Hospice and most especially to her longtime physician, Dr. George Thomas and veterinarian, Dr. Al Wehner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Life Force, Inc., PO Box 12589, Beaumont, TX 77726. Life Force is a non-profit humane organization which has helped Southeast Texas’ stray and abandoned animals find homes for the past 32 years. Sybil and Taryn were charter members of this organization.
