Sybil Fay Ward, 82, of Orange, Texas, passed away on January 10, 2019, in Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Chris Eppler. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Zavalla, Texas, on February 10, 1936, she was the daughter of Jim Bill Johnson and Lorena (Sheffield) Johnson. Sybil worked as a teacher’s aide at the West Orange Cove Schools for many years. She also volunteered at the Mauriceville Elementary Library when her grandchildren were young. Sybil valued education and emphasized the importance of it to her family. She was very devout to her faith and was a longtime member of West Orange and Mauriceville Church of Christ. Sybil always tried to instill right and wrong in her children and grandchildren. She loved to sing and sang with a few country groups. Sybil also enjoyed reading, cooking, watching old movies, and taking care of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bobbie Ward; her son, David Ward; and her brother, Jerry Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Jenny Burgins and husband Randy of Atlanta, Georgia, and Michael Anthony Ward and wife Nina of Mauriceville; her grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Josh, Rachel, Tina, Mark, and Justin; her great-grandchildren, Caressa, Emily, Natalie, Bailey, Ava, Annalise, Paige, Charlie, and Bennett; her brother, Allen Davis of Beaumont; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
