Sylvia dedicated her life to caring for others as the caretaker and communication hub of her family. Her warm and nurturing personality made her a pillar of strength and love for all who knew her. Sylvia's proudest accomplishments included being a Marine Officer’s Wife, a devoted mother, and a quite active member of the Altar Society at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. St. Mary’s has always been an important part of her life. It was the church she married her junior high sweetheart and love of her life, J.R. Mires on Sept 3, 1966. During her husband’s time with the Marines the couple enjoyed the chance to travel the world, and also reside in Hawaii for a number of years. She returned to her home of Orange, Texas after the tragic loss of her husband and surrounded herself with the family that she cherished. She was lovingly known as "Grammy" to her two grandchildren. Sylvia Ann Mires will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of all those she touched.
