Teruko “Judy” Ryan left her tired, suffering, and broken earthly body to go to her permanent home in Heaven on February 26, 2020. She was born on March 15, 1932 in Tokyo, Japan.
Judy converted to Christianity soon after moving to America and was a devoted preacher’s wife. She ministered to everyone she could. Judy proudly became a United States citizen several years ago. She loved to sew and was a wonderful cook. Her family loved her traditional Japanese dishes. Family meant the world to Judy and they all adored her. She was a shining light in the lives of all who knew and loved her, and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Elton Lee Ryan; her infant son, Jacky; and her parents (in-laws) Elton C. and Edna Ryan of Jonesville, Louisiana.
Judy is survived by her sisters-in-law, Linda Ryan of Orange, Shirley Watson of Dardanelle, Arkansas, and Sarah Wyles and husband Dee of Vidalia, Louisiana; and her sisters in Christ, Clara Fults and Jackie Lingo of Orange. She was also the beloved “Aunt Judy” to many nieces and nephews, and she loved each of them as her own children.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Brother John Sims of Bethel Baptist Church and Deacon Dee Wyles. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southeast Texas Hospice, especially Shinnett Turner; as well as many of her loved ones who provided care and support through the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 2906 Western Avenue, Orange, Texas 77630, and Birthright of Orange, 1537 Strickland Drive, Orange, Texas 77630.
