Thelma Brown, 81, of Orange, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend David Milner, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange. Burial will follow at Jett Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born in Orange, Texas, on July 24, 1932, Thelma was the daughter of Ike Elmore and Minnie (McCarver) Elmore. She worked as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn for 17 years, enjoyed spending time at home with her what-nots and on her porch with her plants. Thelma was the glue of her family, always putting others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, C.W. “Bub” Elmore; and daughter-in-law, Darlene Brown.
Thelma is survived by her sons, Revel Brown, Jr. of Sulpher, Louisiana, Robert Brown, Sr. and wife, Billie of Vidor, James Brown, Sr. of Orange; grandchildren, Robert Brown, Jr., Darla Davis, Revel Brown III, Jennifer O’Keefe, Monica Saurez, James Brown, Jr.; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Velma Odom.
