Thelma Norwood Abshier

Thelma Norwood Abshier, 91, of Orangefield, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Dubuis Hospital in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Forrest Wood, pastor of First Baptist Church in Orangefield. A eulogy will be give by a family friend, Johnny Brunnet.
Burial will follow at Mose Granger Cemetery in Orangefield.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Thelma was born on January 25, 1916, in Bancroft, LA. She was the daughter of Albert Sidney and Lera Quinn Willey. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Orangefield and The Merry Makers from First Baptist Church. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and always put others first. At the time of her death she was the oldest surviving graduate of Mauriceville High School.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Norwood and Arthur Abshier and her great grandson, Fisher Hughes.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Norwood and his wife Trina of Orangefield; grandchildren, Julie Norwood Walker and her husband Bobby of Orangefield, Jamie Renee Hughes and her husband Stephen of Bridge City, Chad Norwood of Orangefield; great-grandchildren Shiloh, Jasey, and Danny Walker, and Grant and Colton Klein; brother, Bobby Willey and his wife Virgina of Woodville.
Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Brunnet, Grant Klein, Colton Klein, Chad Norwood, Shiloh Walker, and Danny Walker.
Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Walker and Stephen Hughes.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Jean Taylor and Debbie Verrett for the love and care given to Mrs. Abshier.
