Theresa Delores Swift, 95, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2024, at Focus Care in Orange.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Father Sinclair Oubre. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Fannett, Texas, on March 14, 1929, she was the daughter of Wilford Himel and Daisy Blanchard Himel. A dedicated worker and cherished friend to many, Terry’s career began as a secretary at Pinehurst Automotive before she found her true calling at Walgreens, where she devoted approximately 25 years of her life. During her time there, she built strong bonds with her co-workers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Terry's passion for life was evident in her love for family and friends. She was the heart of her household, always welcoming loved ones to gather around her table during the holidays, creating lasting memories filled with warmth and joy. Dancing was a beloved pastime for Terry; she spent many enjoyable evenings at VFW singles nights, relishing the music and fun that it brought. She also participated in a ladies group that delighted in board games, Scrabble, and took great pleasure in celebrating each other's birthdays. Their outings to local restaurants reflected Terry's adventurous spirit and her commitment to maintaining connections with those around her. A devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Terry led a life full of love, laughter, and community. Her spirit, vibrant and nurturing, will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Swift; her parents, Wilford and Daisy Himel; her sisters, Florence Bishop, and Daisy Sipole; her brother, Bennie Himel; and her step-son, Jerry Swift, and his wife, Nancy.
She is survived by her son, Rick Roy, and wife, Bettie; her daughter, Rhonda Murray and husband, Jack; Her stepson, Tom Swift and wife, Gloria Jo; her grandson, Richard Roy, Jr.; her step-grandsons, Jeff Swift, James Swift, and Thomas (Tommy) Swift; her step-granddaughters, Mariann and husband, Julie and husband, and Cristy and husband; her great-grandsons, Brandon Roy and fiance’, Emma Dorantes, Draven Roy, and Eric Roy; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
