Thomas “Tom” Alvin Baxter, 78, of Vidor, passed away on May 13, 2020, at his home.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on May 8, 1942, he was the son of Williard Lee Baxter and Virginia (Erwin) Baxter. Thomas was a knick-knack collector and enjoyed watching NASCAR, sports, and Westerns. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Thomas was a baseball and football coach for Vidor Little League for many years. He was a wonderful grandfather, lovingly referred to as “Pawpaw”, and loved by all those who met him. Thomas was a loving and hardheaded “ol fart” who will be deeply missed by all those who came to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Williard and Virginia Baxter.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Baxter; sons, Paul Baxter, Daniel Baxter, and Mark Baxter; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Williard Wayne Baxter, Dale Baxter, Sheryl Cunningham.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
