Thomas Whitney Hebert, 76, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on February 11, 2025, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Keith Royal. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on January 8, 1949, he was the son of Floyd Joseph Hebert and Mabel Virginia Hebert (Clark). He grew up in a nurturing environment where he attended Franklin Elementary and Woodrow Wilson Middle School, ultimately graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. Following high school, Thomas pursued his interest in electronics at Lamar College. Thomas met his beloved Carolyn in 1971 at Port Arthur College, marking the beginning of a lasting bond that enriched his life. Before embarking on his career journey, Thomas proudly served in the United States Air Force. He completed basic training in Amarillo, Texas, and continued his training in Biloxi, Mississippi. He had a memorable tour in Pasharsar, West Pakistan, before eventually returning to Key West, Florida, where he completed his service at Homestead Air Force Base. After his military service, Thomas began his professional life at Reddings Ice Cream in Port Arthur. He went on to work at various companies, including Peveto Packing in Orange, Hubbard Electric in Bridge City, Summers Electric in Beaumont, and Nunn Electric in Austin. He spent the latter part of his career at Dealers Electric in Georgetown, retiring in 2015. Thomas was a man who cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. His great sense of humor and penchant for joking around brought joy to those around him. In retirement, he found happiness in spending time with his loved ones and his many animals. He had a deep affection for all creatures and shared his home with numerous cats and dogs. In his leisure time, Thomas enjoyed watching television, particularly Old Westerns and military movies. Music was a significant part of his life, and he loved various genres. He also had a hobby of collecting watches and T-shirts adorned with funny sayings. He will be remembered fondly for his warmth, humor, and love for family and animals.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mabel Hebert; brother, John Bremer; sister, Beverly Nelson; brother and sister-in-law, Jerald Wayne Hebert and Phyllis Hebert.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Hebert; son, Mike Hebert and wife Sarah; daughter, Kayla Vartanian and husband John; grandchildren, Kallie Hebert-Kuzman and Lenora Rose Hebert; sister-in-law, Tina Worden; nieces, Melanie Villanueva, Cara Bremer, and MaKenzie Bremer; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Hebert, John Vartanian, David Hennigan, Michael Philen, Tim Rickenbrode, and Philip Rickenbrode.
