Thomas Richard Calvert, Sr., T.C. to his friends and family, 80, of Orange, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 12, 2010, at his home in Orange.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18th at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with the Reverend Rob Tibbitts officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Calvert was born on November 14, 1929, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Thomas Matthew Calvert and Mary Virginia Green-Calvert.
T.C. joined the Marine Corp in January of 1947. He completed basic training at Camp Pendleton, California and was discharged at Shoemaker, Arkansas in January of 1950.
Thomas married Agnes Weinberger on August 28, 1950, in Dallas. After many years of traveling and working throughout the United States as a brick-mason, they settled in Orange in October of 1957.
Thomas was a member of Madison Lodge #126 AF&AM, the Shiners, and Odd Fellows Lodge. His hobbies included fishing, working, and jamming to the music of Jerry Lee Lewis.
Thomas Richard Calvert, Sr. was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Agnes W. Calvert and grandson, Aaron Thomas Calvert.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Richard Calvert, Jr. and his wife, Debra Calvert, of San Antonio; a sister, Merle Calvert-Earl, of Orange; a brother, Harold W. Calvert of Hartburg; a niece, Brenda Lanzarotto of Orange; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Calvert, John Calvert, Justin Hooks, Bob Covington, Code Covington, and Curtis Sonnier.
