Toby Donald Hankins, 77, died November 24, 2008. Memorial services will be held Monday, December 1, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Reverend Bill Collier of Liberty Baptist Church of Bridge City and Reverend Terry Wright of Vidor Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday before the memorial service. Cremation will be by Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory in Beaumont.
Mr. Hankins was born on April 27, 1931, in Laurel, MS. to Ledru Hankins and Lena Looney Holifield. He worked for the City of Bridge City until his retirement and previously worked in the oil fields as a tool pusher. He was very mechanically inclined and also loved to watch golf. He is preceded in death by his father, his brother, Ronald Holifield and his grandson, Heath Hankins.
Mr. Hankins is survived by his wife Frankie Barnett Hankins of Bridge City; his three children, Toby Hankins and wife Candice of Bridge City, Melanie Buckley of Orangefield, and Donald Ray Hankins of Laurel, MS.; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He also leaves his mother, Lena Holifield of Laurel MS. and brothers and sisters; Gail Dederick of Fairhope, AL, Gerald Holifield of Enterprise, AL., Kenneth Holifield of Laurel MS. and Maria Johnson of Jessup, GA.
