Tommy L. Reed, 87, of Orange, passed away on August 11, 2017, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, in Nederland.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Mr. Slade Hunt. Burial will follow at Jett Cemetery in Orange.
A visitation will precede the service, starting at 9:30 a.m.
Born in Orange, Texas, on May 3, 1930, he was the son of Tom Bolton Reed and Hallie Maude Willey Reed. Tommy was a lifelong member of IBEW Electricians Local 479. He worked as an electrical maintenance supervisor at Owens-Illinois, and after retiring, his job was of great importance to him, so he continued to do some consulting work. In his free time, he was a lifetime member of the Orange Boating Club and loved traveling to the many meetings and events. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him
He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Betty Ann Reed; son, David Reed; and grandson, John Hannegan.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruthie Hannegan and husband, Kent; two grandchildren, Carrie Prouse and husband, Chad, and Katie Hunt and husband, Slade; five great-grandchildren, Sadie and Sophia Prouse, Davin Kalena, and Harper and Hayes Hunt; sister, Kay Claybar; and nephews, Tom and Michael Claybar.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kent Hannegan, Tom Claybar, Michael Claybar, Slade Hunt, Chad Prouse, and Davin Kalena.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Golden Years Assisted Living.
