Treba Elizabeth Okun, 85, of Vidor, Texas, passed away December 8, 2020, in Nederland, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020, at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Vidor, Texas.
Born in Rusk, Texas, on November 22, 1935, she was the daughter of Collie (C.B.) Isbell and Dahlia (Frazier) Isbell. Treba was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a self-made, successful woman. Treba graduated from Lamar University and worked as an LVN at numerous hospitals and was lead nurse of a psychiatric ward. Treba loved flowers, gardening, arts and crafts, and taking care of animals. She enjoyed traveling and spending time in the outdoors. She loved spending time with her family and friends, she always kept a clean house and kept a nice table set for her loved ones when they came to visit her. Treba was a longtime member of The Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a generous and kind person and she will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Collie (C.B.) Isbell and Dahlia Isbell; first husband, Jean Baptiste (J.B.) Gay; second husband, Jim Okun, Sr.; daughter, Karen Gifford; grandson, Desmond Hebert.
She is survived by her children, Bridgette (Pam) Lewis and her husband Paul of Nederland, Texas, Sonja Gay and her wife Lee Callison of Montgomery, Texas, and Sharron Cooper, Springfield, Missouri; grandchild, Cody Hebert of San Diego, California and numerous loving family and friends.
