Valerie Lynn Sanford, 64, of Orange, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at her residence.
Born in San Diego, California on May 21, 1949, Valerie was the daughter of Calvet James Perkins and Margaret Mary Richards. She was an office manager at Alcode Plumbing for fifteen years. Valerie enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and sewing. She also enjoyed bowling, playing pool, dancing, bingo and fishing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Richards; uncle and aunt, Howard and Bert Womack; and mother-in-law, Betty Hoosier.
Valerie is survived by her father, C.J. Perkins and wife, Anna Marie of Virginia; daughter, Shaelyn Anderson and husband, Tommy of Vidor; and son, Nathan Stanford and wife, Britney of Orange. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lane and Shelbie Anderson and Liliana and Olivia Sanford; sisters, Debbie Gordon and Vivian Ellis of California; brother, Richard Perkins of Washington; the father of her children, Rick Sanford of Orange; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Orange with Reverend Barry Bradley officiating. All floral arrangements should be delivered to Claybar Funeral Home in Orange on Friday, August 9, 2013, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
The family would like to thank the Medical Team, Odyssey Hospice, family and friends for all their care and kindness during this time.

Shaelyn and Nathan our prayers are with you and your children in this time of loss. Valerie was a one of a kind person, and we will miss her very much. She is now with the angels and is a whole person again in the arms of God. We loved her dearly and will cherish the memories of many good times shared with her and your families. My dear friend, Valerie will live forever in my heart, mind and cherished memories! We all send our love and prayers. She'll be missed by our family. I'm glad she got to meet our grandchildren!
