Velvie Barfield, 73, died, Monday, August 20, 2007, at The Meadows Nursing Center in Orange.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Gill First National Funeral Home Chapel, 6637 Main St., Winnsboro, LA, 71295.
Mrs. Barfield?s grandson, Reverend Elton Rawls will officiate.
Burial will follow at Harris Cemetery in Winnsboro, LA. Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday at Gill First National Funeral Home.
Local arrangements under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Mrs. Barfield was born February 28, 1934, in Winnsboro, LA, to Eugene Temple and Mary Harrelson Temple.
Mrs. Barfield was a longtime resident of Orange and Bridge City where she was a homemaker.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed the outdoors and whistling.
She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William ?Bill? Barfield, Sr., son, Louis Dewayne Barfield and three brothers, Otis Temple, Thomas Temple and Dewey Temple.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Rawls and husband Danny of Evadale, sons, David Barfield and wife Neda of Baytown, Roy Dexter Barfield and wife Carolyn of Orange, daughter, Denise Bridgers and husband John Terry of Bridge City; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; sisters, Ludie Mota of Little Cypress and Thelma Temple of Dayton; brothers, Roger Temple and Troy Temple of Winnsboro, LA, Artis Temple of Clanton, Alabama and Howard ?Vel? Temple of Mauriceville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Rawls, Jason Barfield, Drew Barfield, Robert Barfield, Tim Barfield, Clint Temple, Evan Rawls, Garyth Rawls and Kip Rawls.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Hobbs, Kagen Rawls, Dustin Bridgers, Shawn Bridgers and Avery Barfield.
