Vena G. Harrison, 80, of Orange, Texas, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009, Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with Pastor Bob Griffen and Pastor Jim Hardwick officiating.

Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn in West Orange.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Vena was born on September 7, 1929, in Haleyville, Alabama. She was the daughter of Harvey Columbus Berry and Lilly Bailey Berry. She married the love of her life, Eugene Harrison on August 16, 1947. She was a member of the Orangefield and Orange Communities since 1948. Vena was a member of First Christian Church of Orangefield, retired from Holiday Inn and enjoyed being a member of Tops. She loved gardening and cooking. Vena loved to talk and never met a stranger, and was always there for her family and friends helping them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; brothers; daughters, Sandra and June Harrison; and grandson, Michael Racca.

Vena is survived by her husband, who she took care of for 62 years, Gene Harrison of Orange; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Glenn Meyer of Houston, Bonnie and Ricky Borel of Orangefield, Vena Katherine and Robert Hutson of Newton; and son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Shariesa Harrison of Sour Lake.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gary Meyer, Aaron Meyer, Brian Bigby, Eugene Harrison, Hope Chaoui, Calvin Hutson, Joe Harrison and Talissa Racca; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Harvey Berry of Haleyville, Alabama.

Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Aaron Meyer, Gary Meyer, Brian Bigby, Calvin Hutson, Joe Harrison and Eugene Harrison and Honorary Pallbearer will be her late grandson, Michael Racca.
