A short Louisiana visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, Louisiana.

Vergine, in her younger years, worked at The Wave restaurant and also a local laundromat in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. Life was not easy for her growing up in rural Louisiana. She met and married Norris Trahan from Mermentau, Louisiana and they moved to Beaumont, Texas where she raised three daughters. They made their home in Beaumont for 65 years. Vergine would babysit children in her home so she could make extra income. Once her daughters were all in school, she went to work at J.C. Penny’s where she worked for over 21 years as a stock clerk. She was an excellent cook making the best roast, rice dressing and fig pies. We are blessed to have been able to pass those recipes down to her grandchildren. Vergine would crochet and was the best seamstress in town. She would fix clothes, costumes and just about anything that needed her loving touch. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and extra special loving mawmaw. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Norris Trahan whom she was married to for 66 years, her parents Whitney Hebert and Legena Cormier Hebert; and her brother, Larris Hebert.

She is survived by her daughters, Arlene Vincent and husband Jeffrey, Angie Trahan, and Karen Haynes and husband Mark, all from Beaumont, Texas; her grandchildren, Wade Vincent and wife Jennifer of Fannett, Texas, Brandon Vincent and wife Vicky, Tyler Haynes, Mallory (Haynes) Rugg and husband John all of Beaumont, Texas, Christopher Spark of Lumberton, Texas, and Christy Spark of Spring, Texas; her great grandchildren, Nathan Vincent, Jason Vincent, Natalie Vincent, and Jessie Martin; her brother, Lovess Hebert of Lafayette, Louisiana; her sister, Adule Vincent of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Compassion Care Hospice and to her wonderful sitter and friend, Rhonda for all of their love and care.
