Vertis Arvell Lummus, Sr., 92, of Orange, Texas, passed away on September 7, 2020, in Beaumont, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Gary Wheeler of First Pentecostal Church in Orange.
Born on May 24, 1928, in Call, Texas, he was the son of Dude Lummus and Jewell Yancy Lummus. Vertis loved the Lord and was a very devoted member of First Pentecostal Church in Orange. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outside tinkering with things in his driveway and working on his tractors. Vertis was a long-time outdoorsman who loved to go fishing and boating. His family was his world and he was his happiest when he was with them, especially if he was getting to barbeque for them. Vertis was very proud that even at the age of 92, he was still able to drive himself around to take care of business. He loved his family and friends dearly and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Melba Lummus; and four brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Vertis Lummus, Jr. and wife Wanda, of Orange, and Gene Lummus, of Orange; granddaughter, Amber Lange and husband Michael, of Fannett; great-grandchild, Cooper Lange; and numerous other loving family and friends.
