Vertis T. Delano

Vertis was born on August 19, 1928, in Orange, Texas. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 14, 2009, in Old Salem, Texas at home with his wife, Becky and his family by his side.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Richard Boyd of Old Salem.

Interment will follow at Harris Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.

Vertis and Becky were married for 17 years. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. He was a Korean War Veteran.

Vertis was preceded in death by his son, Dale Wade Delano; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. Delano; brothers, George, Roy and Jerry; and sisters, Virgetta, Ruby and Elma.

He is survived by his loving wife, Becky; brother, Harry Delano of Orange; sister, Levenya Ravellette of Terrell; sons, Roray Delano of Silsbee, Dwayne Delano of Orangefield, and Jeff Delano of Norman, OK; daughters, Angelique Delano of Fred, Sara Gibson of Bridge City, Sandy Bohler of Old Salem, Sonia Ballard of Bridge City and Sheila Glenn of Old Salem.

He was blessed with 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Buck Bohler, Johnny Frazee, Willie Huff, Norman Ballard, Bryon Glenn and Carroll Young. Honorary Pallbearers will be Howard Huff and Don Mosier.
