Victor G. Abrego
Victor G. Abrego, 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2017, in Beaumont, Texas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Joseph P. Daleo. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be preceding the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary held at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Born in Orange, Texas, on August 27, 1926, he was the son of Frank Abrego and Pueblita Guiterrez Abrego. Victor proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from DuPont Sabine River Works after 36 years as a General Mechanic. He loved woodworking, including building his own home with his bare hands. He enjoyed rebuilding lawnmowers for his neighbors, and was a die-hard West Orange-Stark Mustangs fan. Victor loved his family dearly and enjoyed family gatherings. He cherished his time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pueblita Abrego; and his sisters, Mary Pachuca and Connie Sanchez.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Abrego; children, Victor Abrego and wife Susan, of San Antonio, Lawrence Abrego and wife Janet, of Orange, Lana Smith and husband Russell, of Orange, and Daniel Abrego, of League City; grandchildren, Brian, Sam, Shea, Shon, Chase, Kayley, Morgan, Madison, Michael, and Kimberly; 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Ruby Denmon, Ameila Lugo, Delia Villarreal, Jane Carmack, Amparo Abrego, Frank Abrego and wife Myrtis, and Siguel Abrego.
Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Abrego, Raymond Bourgeois, Russell Smith, Shon Landry, Tom Barrientos, Chris Abrego, and Manuel Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Smith, Coleman Jackson, Shea Landry, Chase Abrego, Seth Gamblin, Bryan Lynch, and Sam Lynch.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Southeast Texas Food Bank at 3845 S. MLK Jr Pkwy, Beaumont, TX 77705.
