Virgie M. Watson Berwick, 90, of Bridge City went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 7, 2007.
Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Carl Wagner.
Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Berwick was born January 12, 1917, in Louisiana.
Mrs. Berwick lived in Bridge City 51 years and was a wonderful mother, homemaker, cook and friend. She enjoyed Cajun cooking. She shared many of her favorite recipes with the community in articles published weekly by the Penny Record, entitled ?MaMaw?s Cajun Cuisine.? Her passion was Jesus Christ and she led many family members, friends and others who crossed her path in life to the Lord Jesus Christ. She especially loved ministering one on one and continued this ministry by phone when she was no longer able to attend church. In the late 1980?s Mrs. Berwick was instrumental in establishing a full gospel family Church for the community in Bridge City. She was a member of the 700 Club.
Mrs. Berwick was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Berwick and first husband Samuel A. Watson, her son Samuel ?Bubba? Watson, Jr., daughter in law, Janice Watson, her father, Clarence Magee and mother Nita Lavergne.
Those left to cherish her memory are son, Donald W. Watson and wife Eileen of Bridge City, son David L. Watson and wife Debbie of Kemah, daughter Rebecca A. Belcher and husband Boyd of Bridge City, sisters Hilda McCormick of Beaumont and Ethel Rampmaier of Iota, LA, several nieces and nephews; grandchildren Ronald Watson,
Gary Watson, Michael Watson, Shawn Watson, Mark Watson, Vicky Henderson, Nikki Martin, R.J. Gardner, David Ty Watson and Jennifer Watson, nineteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronald Watson, Gary Watson, Michael Watson, Shawn Watson, Mark Watson, R.J. Gardner, David Ty Watson and Zachary Arguello.
