Virgil Morgan, Sr., 67, a lifelong resident of Orange, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Danny Brack of Calvary Christian Center in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City, with Military Honors by the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Born in Nowata, Oklahoma on May 3, 1943, Virgil was the son of John Anthony Morgan, Jr. and Mildred Maxine Myers Morgan. A Vietnam Veteran, he served in the US Air Force and was a member of Old First Orange Baptist Church. He retired after 39 years as an operator at the Inland Orange Paper Mill. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He loved working in his yard, planting his yearly garden, and his yearly trips to Branson, Missouri. He will be truly missed by all who knew and love him.
Preceded in death by his father, John Anthony Morgan, Jr., Virgil is survived by his wife, Betty Morgan of Orange; mother, Mildred ?Granny? Morgan of Orange; daughter, Donna Strickland of Orange; son, Art Morgan and wife Lori of Mauriceville; grandchildren, Stormy Strickland and Rainy Strickland of Orange, Brody Morgan and Karlie Morgan of Mauriceville; and brother, Arlo Morgan of Lake Sam Rayburn
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jimmy Matthews, Ronnie Peveto, Jimmy Stewart, Charlie Bell, Larry Moreland, Carl Floyd, Henry Eads, and David Janice. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Parker, Ronald Scott, and Tom Scott.
