Walter D. Taylor

Walter D. "Boob" Taylor, 89, of Orange, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at Harbor Hospital in Orange.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at First United Pentecostal Church in Orange, with the Reverend Gary Wheeler, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be
5-9 p.m. Friday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
A native and lifelong resident of Orange, Mr. Taylor was born on January 6, 1919, to William L. and Ella Curl Taylor.
He taught school and coached in Hackberry, Louisiana for a time and enjoyed being a part of school reunions over the years.
In 1948, Mr. Taylor owned and operated Stark Supply Appliance Store and in 1962, began his career with Levingston Shipbuilding Company, retiring as Vice President.
A veteran of WW II, he served in the U.S. Naval Air Force and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church formerly St. John's United Methodist Church in West Orange and First United Pentecostal Church in Orange.
Preceded in death by his wife, Clara Taylor; and daughter, Cynthia Hedge, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry N. and Karen Taylor of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Lindy Lou and Jim Nicola of Portland, Oregon; and his best friend, Pauline Werner of Orange.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jason Hedge, Ryan Taylor, Reagan Taylor, Taylor, Shelby, Whitney and Sabrina Kilkenny; and great grandchildren, Hailey Jeanne and Natalee Claire Taylor.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Taylor, Jason Hedge, Andre Taylor, Chuck Duff, Eddie Gordon and Glen Hertenberger. Honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Lagrone.
