Walter Lee Holliday

Walter Lee Holliday, Jr., 64, of Beaumont entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 30, 2012, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 12, 1947, in Beaumont, to Lillian "Cookie" Holliday and Walter Holliday, he graduated from Forest Park High School in 1965, volunteered to serve in the U. S. Army in 1966, and was a decorated, disabled Viet Nam veteran. Honorably discharged in 1969, he was a victim of post-traumatic stress syndrome, and suffered from complications of hepatitis, which he contracted while in Southeast Asia and from which he died in the end. Lee was a former employee of the U. S. Postal Service and a draftsman by trade, having created the designs for many area business, homes and beach houses over the years.
A devoted son, he dutifully cared for his mother after Walter's death in 1991. Uncle Lee was also a Great Uncle, long before he got the official title with the recent birth of a great niece and great nephew. His humble, behind-the-scenes support of his family will be sorely missed, yet he leaves them with the lasting legacy of a servant's heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Lee Holliday, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Lillian Ruth "Cookie" Holliday and two brothers and their families: John and Louann Holliday of Beaumont, children, Stephanie Holliday of Beaumont and Alex Holliday of Austin, TX; and Paul and Paula Holliday of Beaumont, and children Ryan and Erica Holliday of Alexandria, VA, Sgt. Hunter Holliday of Tacoma, WA and his son, Lucas Edward; Jason Holliday and Madison Holliday, both of Austin, TX; and Michael Holliday of Beaumont, and his daughter, Jaynen Fay; also, numerous cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews and nieces.
