Walter Peter Myers, 86, of Bridge City, died October 13, 2008, at the Winnie Medical Center in Winnie, Texas. He was a former resident of Pt. Arthur before moving to Bridge City.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Officiating will be Rev. Steve Leger of St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery near Bridge City.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
Walter was born December 6, 1921 in New Iberia, LA. He was the son of Sydney P. and Ada Lennie Myers.
He worked for Texaco for over 40 years, retiring as a clerk for Texaco Marine in 1987.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to joining the Navy where he served on Liberty ships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Annabel, of 49 years, grandson Terry Billeaud, sister Hilda Myers Sherer of Louisville, KY.
Survivors include stepdaughter Deanna Dunlap & husband Dennis of Groves, TX; three grandchildren including Scott Billeaud of Houston, Shawn Dunlap of Nederland, Trinette Cervantes of Bridge City; seven great-grandchildren including Rhiannon Billeaud Houston, Tyler, Taryn, and Taylor Dunlap Nederland; Kristine Cervantes, Lee & Carl Jensen all of Bridge City
He is also survived by brothers Leroy Myers of Groves, TX and Ellis Myers of Bridge City.
Serving as pallbearers are Scott Billeaud, Shawn Dunlap, Jim Rung, Lane Block, Rhiannon Billeaud and John Lemaire.
