Warren Ray Wilson

Warren Ray "Babe" "Old Man" Wilson, 63, of Bridge City, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Baptist Orange Hospital.

A memorial gathering will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory in Bridge City.

Born in Tyler, Texas on November 12, 1947, Warren was the son of Alvis and Dorothy Carruthers Wilson. He was a 1965 graduate of Bridge City High School and retired after 28 years as a supervisor at DuPont, where he worked in the incinerator unit. After retirement he also worked as a technical writer for P.T.S. and M&H Enterprises. Warren was an avid NASCAR and football fan and loved to play poker. He loved to joke with his grandchildren and he was well known for his outstanding sense of humor. Warren enjoyed telling new acquaintances that he spent 16 months in the "pen" as a correctional officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Barrett Wilson; first wife, Sharon Nicks; sister, Linda Wilson Vickers; brother, Alan Wilson; and grandson, William O'Grady.

Warren is survived by his wife, JoAnn 'Jody' Gaither Wilson of Bridge City; daughters, Deedra Wilson of Bridge City and Lauren Kemp of Orange; and son, Warren Wilson, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Bridge City.

He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren; Charles Ganze and wife, Kim, Trevor Kemp, Dustin Kemp, Jared Ganze, Sharon Wilson, Bryanna Kemp, Shane Wilson, Hannah O'Grady and Stetson Wilson; and one great-grandchild, Jayne Ganze.

The family would like to give a special thank you to his neighbor, Ray Allen.
