I graduated from Bridge City 1961. I remember that Wayne was manager of football, basketball, and baseball teams. Managers are not on the field or in the spotlight but they worked hard washing uniforms and keeping our equipment repaired. Wayne was always in good humor and did a great job. At one of our class reunions I thanked Wayne for his work because as I got older I appreciated that job more. Team managers received school jackets just like the players and I'm sure Wayne wore his with pride. From reading the obit it seems he was a dependable and consistent worker throughout life as well as a family man,

My family knew his whole family when I was a young girl. We would go to their house out on HWY 87 just across the bridge from Bridge City and visit and on occasion his mother would have the best big pot of shrimp gumbo ever.
