Wiley Lavelle Ayres, 75, of Orange, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Sister Ruth Burch of Harvest Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the funeral home.
Born in Jonesboro, Louisiana on April 25, 1936, Wiley was the son of Lee Roy Ayres, Sr. and Allie Elaine Elizabeth Davis Ayres. He served in the US Army and retired from Firestone after 30 years. He loved building violins, traveling to Branson, Missouri, and listening to music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee Roy Ayres, Jr.; and sister, Doris Ayres.
Wiley is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sue Ayres; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bill Cockrell of Orange; son, Kevin Ayres of Bridge City; daughter, Becky Chapman of Palestine; grandchildren, Ryan Fisette, Racheal Lisiecki, Lane Lisiecki, Evan Ayres, and Connor Ayres; and great-grandchild, Ari Fisette.
He is also survived by his brothers, Ray Ayres, Jerry Ayres, and Leslie Ayres; and sisters, Geneva Davis, Linda Tambarillo, Barbara Sweeney, and Joann Smudrick.
