Alan and I worked together for 30+ years at Bayer. He was in the site safety department and then later in process safety management in my unit. He was great at his job of keeping our crew safe and really “walked” the walk. We became friends and he took me under his golf wings. This guy could really play (4 or 5 handicap). He was such an athlete. We played together at DERA and all over Texas and Louisiana. He played by example. No gimme strokes, mulligans; etc. when a shot went astray, he would say-“now take your medicine”. Alan was a man of deep faith and lived the life of a christian. (See obit) He loved Jesus, his family; and friends. I lost contact with Alan after his retirement and hurricane Ike. I have missed him as a friend but I know where he is now. Maybe someday we can tee it up again.

Allan and I were teammates at McNeese St University for a couple of years in 1970 & 71. He was a wonderful baseball player and an even better man. Allan was our #1 pitcher and a leader of our team. He was a very fierce competitor. Some of his pitching exploits are still remembered by those of us lucky enough to have played with him. He was mature, level headed and someone all our team looked toward for leadership. We lost track of each other after graduation but after hearing of his passing I feel compelled to share these feelings with his friends and loved ones. Having Allan as a teammate made us a better baseball team and made us guys better men! My best wishes. Dick Morris (1st baseman), Coach Cornel Thompson (catcher).
