William W. "Bill" Raborn
William W. "Bill" Raborn, 87, of Beaumont , died Friday, October 3, 2008 at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital in Orange . Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory.
Bill was born on April 11, 1921 in Jacksonville , FL to William and Laura Weeks Raborn. He graduated from the University of Florida where he was captain of the 1947 football team. He was also a member of the University of Florida Alumni Association . Bill served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force and was a Master Mason. He was the past manager for both Western Woodland and the Lufkin Plywood Plant for Owen Illinois and was a member of the Texas Forestry Association. Bill was also the past president of Sunset Grove Country Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby Raborn.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marie Raborn of Orange ; his daughters, Linda Carroll and husband, John of Orange and Dana Raborn Jones and husband, Stan of North Carolina; two grandsons, Scooter Carroll and wife, Lisa and Bill Carroll and wife, Tricia; one great grandson, Hayden Carroll; and sister, Mildred Zyvozoski.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the University of Florida , Gainesville , FL 32611 ; 352 392-3261.
