William E. "Ed" Carpenter, of Orange, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in Orange.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be the Reverend Kevin Kissel of Faith United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, at the funeral home.
Ed was born in Morgan City, Louisiana on December 23, 1918 to William Edward and Catherine Davies Carpenter, Sr. He was a Sergeant for the U.S. Army and worked for the American Bridge Division of U.S. Steels for 35 years. Ed was also the Sunday School Superintendant at Faith United Methodist for 14 years, and enjoyed building birdhouses.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Martha Ruth; daughter, Ruth Ann Hinz; three brothers and two sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are nephews, Leon Wallace and wife Connie of Mauriceville, Robin Wallace of Orange; niece, Jeanette Evans and husband Pleas of Orange, and several grand- nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Williams, C.J. Trahan, Alex Caswell, A.J. Wallace, E.J. Duhon and Jerry Tarter.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Dixon, Bob Cady, Morris Ramsey, Tom Sears, Don Prince and Billy Garrett.
Should friend's desire, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church Building Fund.
