William Truman Bill Seals

Bill Seals of Orange passed away at home on January 7, 2010, at 80 years of age. The son of Dan and Gertrude Seals, Bill was born October 6, 1929, in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma and spent his childhood years in Seiling, Oklahoma. Following High School graduation, Bill joined the United States Navy and served his country with pride and honor for close to 30 years. Bill was selected for the nuclear training program and was assigned to the USS Enterprise as the Reactor Chief, our country's first nuclear carrier, as it was commissioned in November, 1961. During a brief assignment in Washington, DC, Bill met Adolfina "Chi" Flores and the two were married, enjoying a long life together for over 50 years prior to Chi's death in 2007.

After his lengthy naval career in which he traveled all over the world, Bill, Chi and their family moved to Orange, Texas. After retirement from active service, Bill became a hospital engineer for several Southeast Texas Hospitals until 1988.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bill is preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin and Nevyn Seals; sisters, Evalu Staffen and Betty Tyree; and granddaughter, Theresa Blum. Bill is survived by his children, Bill Seals and wife Aranya of Riverside, California, Mike Seals and wife Charlotte of Bridge City, Texas and daughter Pamela Blum and husband Tommy of Katy, Texas. Bill is also survived by his grandchildren, Dylan Seals, Lisa Blum, Katie Blum; and several nieces and nephews.

A viewing for family and friends will be held at Claybar Funeral Home, 504 N. 5th Street, Orange, Texas at 5:00 on Thursday, January 14, 2010. Funeral service will be at Claybar Funeral Home at 2:00 on Friday, January 15, followed by interment at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Orange.
