Wilma Doris Hoffpauir Grossman

Wilma Doris Hoffpauir Grossman: A memorial service for Wilma Doris Hoffpauir Grossman, 88, of Orange will be held Friday, December 18, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends and family beginning at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Kevin Kissel of Faith United Methodist Church will officiate. Mrs. Grossman passed away Friday, December 11, 2009, at Harbor Hospital in Orange.
Cremation is under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory with arrangements under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Mrs. Grossman was a native of Indian Bayou, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Orange. She was a member of the Women's Army Corp during World War II where she met and married her husband of 65 years, Joe Grossman, in London, England. After returning home from overseas she reared her children and attended Matthews Business College in Lake Charles. After moving to Orange, Mrs. Grossman worked as the court coordinator for the 128th District Court, serving for Judges James Neff, Graham Bruce and Pat Clark. She retired after more than twenty years of service to Orange County. She was a longtime member of the former Park Avenue Methodist Church now Faith United Methodist Church. Wilma enjoyed working in her yard, playing bridge, and quilting. She is preceded in death by her parents, Newton and Mary Lou Perry Hoffpauir; two brothers, Norwood and J. D. Hoffpauir; five sisters, Betty Jenkins, Beverly Farnum, Ruth Mitchell, Vivian Kelley, and Verena Riley. She is survived by her husband Joe Grossman, daughter and son-in-law Bobbie and Don Burgess of Bridge City, daughter and son-in-law Pat and Larry Cooper of Silsbee, son and daughter-in-law Raymond and Pam Grossman of Friendswood; two brothers, Ladd Hoffpauir and wife Billie Merle of Reeves, Louisiana, and Billy Hoffpauir and wife Shirley of Sulphur, Louisiana; ten grandchildren, Phyllis Fregia and husband Clint, Whitney Burgess, Donito Burgess and wife Whitney, Shelley Lewis and Michael Peevy, Christy Delacerda and husband John, Heather Latino and husband Lance, Mitchell Cooper and Jean Daigle, Clayton Grossman and wife Terri, Jennifer Black and Krystal Boyd; and Sevren Grossman; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her caretakers at home, Judy Mosley, Darilyn Chester and Margaret Jackson for their care and patience and the nurses and staff of Harbor Hospital for their care and compassion during her brief illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Texas Children's Hospital, the Building Fund of Faith United Methodist Church, or Lamar State College-Orange Scholarship Fund, or the charity of your choice.
