Wyetta Carter

1936 ∼ 2024

Wyetta Carter

Wyetta Carter, 88, of Orange, died Friday, July 19, 2024, the 71st anniversary of her marriage to her husband, Wickie. We will miss her, but we are thankful to God that she is now well and in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in West Orange, with Charlie P. Craig, officiating.

Born in Urania, Louisiana, on June 19, 1936, she was a daughter of Curtis Wilson and Rosie (Bearden) Wilson. In her younger years, Wyetta was a cheerleader at LaSalle Parish High School, where she was also the Captain and star player on the girls basketball team. Her leadership qualities and athletic talents are remembered by many.

Wyetta adored her family and delighted in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren showcase their singing, dancing, sports activities and other talents. She especially loved spending time with them at her lake house on Toledo Bend where they would fish, cook, play games and take walks discovering all sorts of treasures, wildlife and lifelong memories.

A talented florist, she used her skills not only in her business, but for her church. She was an excellent cook and had a love for painting and travel. One of her favorite destinations was Colorado where she and Wickie would camp with family and friends and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.

She was a longtime member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church. She had served as the nursery coordinator and in leadership roles in the G.A.’s (Girls in Action) and youth Bible Drill. Wyetta and Wickie traveled on numerous mission trips with the church to places such as Moab, Utah, The Valley, Ridgecrest, North Carolina, and Glorieta, New Mexico.

As we remember Wyetta's vibrant spirit and kind heart, we find solace in knowing that her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Preceded in death by her parents, Rosie and Curtis Wilson and her son, Rickey Carter, Wyetta is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Richard (Wickie) Carter; daughters, Terry McFarlane and her husband, Don, Mona Carter and her husband, Andrew Fischer; daughter-in-law, Apryl Carter; grandchildren, Micah McFarlane and his wife, Jamie, Luke McFarlane and his wife, Staci, Brittany Yu and her husband, Dustin, John Austin Chalmers, Emily Dockall and her husband, Matt, Natalie Lollar and her husband, Johnathan and Sarah Carter.

Carter Family please accept my deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dear Mrs. Carter. Growing up my sister, Pam and I, we would go visit Mona. While there Mrs. Carter was always checking in on us and making sure if we needed anything. Such a sweet and gentle soul. So very sorry for your loss.
