What to Do First

Call Claybar Funeral Home
Whether the death occurs at home, in a hospital, or a care facility, your first step is to call us. We are available 24 hours a day at (409) 886-4445 (Orange), (409) 735-7161 (Bridge City), or (409) 892-3456 (Beaumont).
We Arrange the Transfer
We will coordinate the dignified transfer of your loved one into our care, whether from a hospital, nursing home, hospice, or residence.
Gather Important Documents
When ready, gather the following: birth certificate, Social Security card, marriage certificate, military discharge papers (DD-214), insurance policies, and any pre-arrangement documents.
Meet with Our Staff
We will schedule a meeting at one of our locations to discuss arrangements, review options, and plan a service that honors your loved one. Bring any documents you have gathered.
Notify Family & Friends
Begin notifying close family and friends. We will assist with the obituary and public notifications, and can help you coordinate logistics.
Contact Employer & Agencies
Notify your loved one's employer, Social Security Administration, insurance companies, banks, and any other relevant agencies. We can provide certified death certificates to help with these processes.
