Calvin Windford Hailey

December 3, 1923 — April 10, 2014

Calvin Windford Hailey, 90, passed away at Harbor Hospice on April 10, 2014 in Beaumont, TX surrounded by his family. Mr. Hailey was born on December 3, 1923 in Springfield, MO. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Hailey attended the University of Texas, where he earned a Bachelor and Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He was initiated into Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity in January of 1945. He was later the Operations Specialist in the bulk oil department of Gulf Oil's Port Arthur Refinery and was Operations foreman in the lubricating department of the refinery as well.

Mr. Hailey was married to his beautiful wife Willa, and together they helped raise their two nephews, Mike and Larry Speake. He was always present at all of Mike and Larry’s functions. Mr. Hailey was a very kind and generous man. He was known to have a lovely garden outside and enjoyed picking pecans from his backyard tree. He could brighten a room with his wide smile and his cheery tone was always there to greet you when you met him.

Mr. Hailey was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ara Hailey; his wife, Willa; and his nephews, Larry and Mike Speake. He is survived by his great-niece Summer Fogle and her husband, Justin and great-great nephews, Dakotah and Cherokee; great-niece Quanna Hafer and her husband, Jeremy and great-great nephew, Watson and two great-great nieces Lucy and Violet; his great-nephew J.J. Speake; his sister Lorene Newman; his niece Gwen Fryar and his nephew Jeffrey Newman.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all that had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will live on through his family and he will never be forgotten.
