Dolorese Shaw Kite

For the last few years, Dolorese Shaw Kite asked God to help her study His word instead of just reading it. On November 13, 2010, at the age of 80, He granted her prayer to join Him in His Heavenly Kingdom. She was a firm believer that for those who are saved, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

Born in Marianna, Arkansas on September 11, 1930, she graduated high school in Helena, Arkansas where she was a star basketball player. After graduation she played some independent basketball. She was also good at tennis, swimming, and become an excellent bridge player.

Later in life she helped a friend with a craft shop and became proficient in all kinds of crafting.

On November 7, 1952, she and Clarence Kite were joined in a marriage of 58 years. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her two boys knew they could depend on her when needed.

She was twice a cancer survivor at ages 33 and 66; however, the side effect of the last cancer treatment gradually took its toll and wore her out; but she never lost her happy cheerful spirit until the very last day.

Those loving her and missing her are husband, Clarence R. Kite, Jr. of Orange; brother, Charles "Pete" Shaw and wife, Jeannie Shaw of Bryan, Texas; sons, Frank Alan Kite deceased and Charles "Andy" Kite and wife, Carrie "Sue" Kite of Orange; granddaughter, Kim Waters and husband, Walter Waters of Orange; grandson, Chris Kite of Orange; and great-granddaughters, Destiny Stidham and Marissa Waters both of Orange.

She requested cremation and her request will be honored. A private memorial service will be arranged at a later date. The family appreciates all the love and kindness shown by those who knew her and her family.
