Donia Brown, 78, of Lumberton, passed away on July 5, 2021, peacefully at her home.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021, at Our Lady of Victory in Sour Lake. Officiating will be... Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins in Beaumont.
Born in Thibodeaux, LA, on October 22, 1942, she was the daughter of David Gautreaux and Mamie (Richard) Laurentz. Donia moved to Texas when she was 14 and met the love of her life George Brown. They enjoyed going to the beach, watch football and basketball games, school dances, and hanging out at the “Pig Stand” with their friends. She loved to watch George race his car, George tells everyone their high school years were just like the movie “American Graffiti”. Donia graduated from South Park High School where “Greenie Fight Never Dies” in 1960. She married George on September 1, 1961, and had two children, Ky Lynn and Robin Adele. Donia worked as a dental assistant for her brother Tom Gautreaux for 33 years. She was a wonderful wife and great mother and “Nanny” to her grandkids, always putting everyone else’s needs before hers. Donia’s best friend Gracie Slovak was with her throughout her life and are still “Best Friends” today. Donia was loved by everyone who had the pleasure to know her and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave Gautreaux, Mamie and Don Laurentz; brother, Thomas Gautreaux; and her beloved son, Ky Lynn Brown.
She is survived by her loving husband, George A. Brown Jr.; daughter, Robin Adele Buchholz and husband Skip; daughter-in-law, Paige Brown; grandchildren, Ashleigh and Chase Wert, Clay and Lindsay Buchholz, Kasey and Josh Sloan, Mason Buchholz and Kristin Lambert, Taylor Brown, Colton Brown; nine greatgrandchildren; brother, James Gautreaux; sister-in-laws, Nelda, Judy, and Caroline; she also had numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly. Jacki you were a very special person to her, thank you.
Serving as pallbearers will be Skip, Clay, Mason, Darrell, David, Chase, Josh, and Kevin.
