Harold Joseph Prejean, 88, entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 4, 2007.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2007, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Orange.
Officiating will be Reverend Tom Phelan, with burial to follow at St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, with a Wake Service at 6:30 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange.
Harold is survived by his wife Dorothy; children, Lesylee and Burke Gautreaux, Brad and Liz Prejean, Michelle and Pat Belcher, Taska and Frank Rougeau, grandchildren, Allen and Darrella Gautreaux, Joannah and Nick Landry, Natalie Miller, Ryan Prejean, Brooke, Jacob, and Rachel Belcher, great grandchildren, Ashton and Abby Gautreaux, Jackson, Clayton and Julian Landry, sister Helen Schaller, and sisters-in-law Jean Levingston and Hester Perkins along withnumerous other family members and great friends.
Born to John and Johanna Hebert Prejean in Orange, Texas, on May 7, 1919, he lived in Orange his entire life.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Olivia Hebert Prejean, also, his wife of 58 years, Peggy Perkins Prejean, sisters Ethel Prejean and Lucille Andersen.
Harold served his country while in the Army during World War II. He was active in the occupation of the Phillipines and Japan during and after the war. After returning, he continued to serve his community through the American Red Cross and as Chapter Executive of the March of Dimes for many years. He served his church in various capacities including religious education and serving on other committees and organizations.
Harold had a great love of horses, golf, ballroom dancing, swimming and hunting. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and showed unconditional love for his family and friends. He was generous to all and lived life to the fullest until the end. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
