Jeannine Carter Batchelor was born Feb. 25, 1930 in Kirbyville, Texas to James D. Lafayette and Bonnie Ola (Beard) Carter and passed away Oct. 6, 2015 in Beaumont, Texas. She resided in Kirbyville until 1948 when she married the love of her life, Bill Batchelor, and they moved to Beaumont. She attended business school and worked as a bookkeeper and para-professional accountant until her retirement.
She and Bill loved to travel. In their earlier years, they would pack up the travel trailer and set off to various parts of the country. In later years, their “camping” adventures were replaced with cruises and more conventional vacations. Jeannine also enjoyed playing bridge (or games) with friends and family and she loved to cook. She was known by her family and friends for her “Dump Soup” and “Company Rice.”
Most important in her life, was her family- her son, granddaughter and wonderful grandchildren. She delighted in any family gathering-but especially Christmas and holidays. She also loved shopping and would use any excuse to shop for something special (on sale or with a coupon) for her family.
Jeannine was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Faith Quester’s Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her son, William “Richard” Batchelor; granddaughter, Patricia Jannise and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Kay and Carson William Jannise; sister, Linda Carter Christian; brother, Dr. James Paul Carter and wife, Nancy; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Westbrook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bonnie Carter; husband, Willie R. “Bill” Batchelor; daughter-in-law, Kyoko “Kay” Batchelor; sister, Bonnie Carter Westbrook; and brother-in-law, Sollie Christian.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Beaumont. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Kirbyville Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
