JoAnn Fontana Godkin, 83, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on July 20, 2019, in Beaumont.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on September 22, 1935, she was the daughter of Frank “Buster” Fontana and Mildred (Davis) Fontana. She was a cheerleader and graduate of Beaumont High School. JoAnn worked for the Texas Department of Highways for 27 years as an office manager, before retiring. She also worked as a hostess for Western Sizzler. JoAnn had a strong work ethic and was recognized as an “Outstanding Employee” two times in the Texas Monthly Magazine. She loved spending her time dancing, fishing, and bowling. JoAnn also enjoyed playing bridge and dominoes. You could find her and Buddy at their chairs in the kitchen every time there was a ball game on, but especially on Sundays when they looked forward to their sons coming over to join them. JoAnn loved her family unconditionally and was a strong woman who always supported them. She was a loving person and good friend who never met a stranger. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne Godkin; her parents, Frank “Buster” and Mildred Fontana; and her granddaughter, Kaye Ryan.
She is survived by her children, Debra Smith and husband Larry of Orange, Frank “Jay” Webb of Beaumont, Brian A. Webb and wife Roberta of Buffalo, Missouri, Robert W. Webb and wife Susan of Kingwood, Buddy Godkin, Jr. of Rose City, Dianne Godkin of Beaumont, Darla Duhon and husband Buddy of Lumberton, and Clark Godkin and wife Keisha of Buna; her sister, Joyce Hankamer of Sour Lake; as well as her 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
