Joe Reyes, Jr., 56, of Beaumont passed away at his home October 31, 2015. He was born December 26, 1958 to Joe and Gloria Marie (Garcia) Reyes.
His first love when he was young was football. He played linebacker and full back for Assumption Catholic School, Monsignor Kelly High School and South Park High School. He excelled on his high school football team and had several college scholarship offers.
As an adult he played and coached a fast pitch softball team with his father and son for over 30 years. They won several tournaments. He also loved 70’s music and his favorite movie was Saturday Night Fever, which he could recite word for word.
He began working with his father at the age of 18 for Standard Alloys in Port Arthur. He retired after 35 years of service.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to two wonderful grandchildren that he loved very much.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Marie (Verrett) Reyes; son, Joey Reyes III and his wife, Janice, grandchildren, Kaydence and Kade Reyes; parents, Joe and Gloria Reyes; sisters Ann Reyes and Yolanda Arredondo and her husband Andrew and many extended family and friends who loved him.
There will be a gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home.
A service celebrating Joe’s life will take place Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home Beaumont.
